The Meat Cutter is responsible for meat preparation operations, under the direction of the Meat Department Manager. The Meat Cutters are central to the success of the Meat and Seafood (M/S) department, as managing waste and ensuring product relevance, and delivering best quality, differentiated meats are core responsibilities.
Essential Functions:

Ensures that meat production demand is met for sales counters, kitchen, deli and other internal customers on time & meeting quality standards defined by M/S Manager.

Trains and develops junior employees in basic butchery, knife skills, and sanitary issues.

Maintains and extremely high level of cleanliness in the production facility.

Works under the direction of the M/S Manager to maintain workable inventory levels and is responsible for ensuring high quality upon receipt of goods (i.e., temperature controls/HACCP documentation).

Responsible for cutting, trimming, and separating meat product toward its most profitable use, minimizing waste and ensuring profitable trim flow.

Works with the M/S Manager to identify holidays and maintain a seasonally relevant product mix.

Communicates productively with stakeholders, customers, and employees to ensure needs are met.

Communicates with customers for special requests and ensures timely delivery of product

Responsible for communicating with M/S Manager and/or GM to manage hiring, firing, and employee feedback mechanisms in order to build highly efficient and professional teams.

Works, as scheduled, on meat counters to set cases, train/educate employees and serve customers.

Maintains open communication with all store staff to encourage cross-modulation.

Develops and maintains positive and profitable working relationships with vendors.

Participates in cross-training and professional development.

Acts as a leader around the entire store, able to give feedback, advice, and direction when needed.
Other related duties as assigned.

| Qualifications: |
Qualifications:
• Minimum 4 years M/S experience required.
• Sufficient mathematical proficiency and analytical business skills to perform required functions.
• Creativity in product presentation, merchandising, and selling.
• Product knowledge, including variety, buying, preparation, and pricing.
• Supervisory experience, including directing work, training, and evaluating.
• Willingness to make a commitment to stability in the position.
• Ability and willingness to work a varied schedule including days, evenings, weekends, & holidays.
• Ability to work quickly and independently.
• Exceptional customer service skills and training.
• Consistent standing, stooping, bending, and lifting. Ability to lift 50 lbs. repeatedly
• Constant arm, hand, and wrist motion.
