Red Wine of the Month
El Trofeo Red 2006. La Mancha, Spain.
This robust red blend comes from Castilla La Mancha, a renowned wine producing area just south of Madrid. The blend is three of our favorite grapes: Tempranillo, Garnacha and a splash of Cabernet Sauvignon. Full bodied, loaded with wonderful flavor, try it with a sharp Manchego cheese and briny olives, or grilled steak.

White Wine of the Month
Domaine Clair Moreau Muscadet Sevre et Maine et Sur Lie 2006
This lovely dry white is produced in the Loire Valley by the Moreaux family. It is produced from the Melon de Bourgogne varietal and is bottled sur lie (with its sediment), which keeps the wine fresh and round. The wine’s crisp acidity and fresh, softly lingering hints of honey and minerals make it an ideal pairing with shellfish, salads and cheeses.

Juno Cape Maidens Cab, Shiraz, Merlot Blend 2006. Paarl, South Africa
Another stunning wine from the folks at South Africa's Juno Winery, this red blend has got it all! From the sexy label, to the very last drop in the bottle, there is nothing bashful about this wine. Blended Cab Sauv, Shiraz and Merlot makes a wine that is full of ripe, dark fruit, smokey spice, and tannins. Keep this in mind for Valentine’s Day.

Sineann Red Table Wine 2006
Peter Rosback and his talented crew at the Newberg, Oregon Sineann Winery have done it again! They never cease to dazzle us with vintage after vintage of consistently good wine. The 2006 Red Table Wine is no exception. A mutt of sorts, Red Table is a mix of the other red wines produced throughout the year (sounds bad, tastes great) and the result is a supple red that is bursting with rich, ripe fruit and a velvetly smooth finish.

Lo Brujo Garnacha 2005. Cataludad, Spain.
For those who love Garnacha, this is a beauty at a great price! Fresh red berries and cherry on the nose, with deeper notes of chocolate and black tea adding complexity. Tightly wound red fruit flavors slowly open and flesh out, with a tangy mineral undercurrent providing energy and lift. Finishes tangy and bright.

Solar de Randez Rioja 2005. Rioja, Spain
We’ve never met a Rioja we didn’t love, but one of this quality, at this price? BIG love! A clean, elegant, Tempranillo based red full of earthy fruit, finessed with undertones of soft leather and sweet pipe tobacco. The gently lingering finish leaves hints of wild berries and white pepper.

Cycles Gladiator Cabernet Sauvignon 2006. Central Coast, CA
Cycles Gladiator Cab Sauv is about as easy drinking as it gets. An intense dark garnet in the glass, smooth with copious amounts of dark, ripe fruit, a hint of dark chocolate and silky, supple tannins. Named for and graced with French painter G. Massias’ famed “Golden Age of Cycling” artwork.

Bubbles of the Month!
Saint Hilaire Blanquette de Limoux 2004
A long standing favorite of ours and the oldest sparkling wine in the world, Saint Hilaire was created by the Benedictine Monks of the Abby about 100 years before the first Champagne. Just to the left of dry, this delicious sparkling wine is made in the traditional method. The delicate bubbles give way to nuances of fresh apple, soft lemony spritz and just a waft of warm, yeasty bread dough. So worth buying a case now to get you through Valentine's Day and the rest of snowy February!

Something Super Special
Sottimano Bric del Salto Dolcetto D’Alba 2006. A Marczyk Exclusive!
Andrea Sottimano is the Bruce Springsteen of Barbaresco producers. Driving through Nieve with him in his little vineyard-beater Fiat is like walking through the Wynkoop with Hickenlooper. He is unequivocally one of the best up-and-coming producers of Nebbiolo. His Dolcetto absolutely rocks. I tasted this wine at VinItaly last year, and begged for all I could get. We have about 15 cases here out of 24 that landed in Colorado. This guy is know for his Barbaresco, but Dolcetto is his version of an everyday wine. Let’s say IF we judged wines by points, this one is rates really high. Buy it. Drink it. Love it.
