Around our food ‘hood
Thanks to our loyal customers, Marczyk Fine Foods is holding steady through these tough times. We feel that once you taste a Niman Ranch pork roast or steak, or fresh peaches from Ela Farms, there is no going back, and our customers seem to agree. Pete and Paul Marczyk have always been extremely thoughtful in what they buy. For example, no other store in the nation carries only Niman Ranch beef and pork. The power of this product is in the taste, and we thank each and every customer that buys meat from us and reinforces what we believe to our core: Animal welfare translates into eating quality. We are incredibly proud of our relationship with Niman, a company that started in the Bay area, providing beef and pork to Alice Waters and other food luminaries. http://www.nimanranch.com/index.aspx for more info.
Our sourcing ethos continues to our artisan cheese selections, sausages (Denver’s Continental Sausage) and produce. We use local providers when we can, like the farmer who has a lot across the street from the store and grows purple basil for us, to Steve Ela, master of the Western slope peach crop.
Up the stairs in Marczyk Fine Wines, the 2009 goal is to have 200 wines under $20 and 150 wines under $15. They continue to find “the best wines you’ve never heard of.” Don’t forget the famous Pete quotation: “Rating wines is like rating sex…sure you can, but why would you?” For more Pete quotes, watch Drinking with Pete, http://www.marczykfinefoods.com/wine-store/drinking-with-pete/ a series of videos on our website. No points, no Parker, just Pete, Ashley and Krisana and their palates. Always amusing.
Once again, thank you all for your support!
